Breastfeeding Tools
Technically speaking, you don’t need any breastfeeding tools to feed a normal, full-term baby. However, in practice, there are some things that you can buy to make your life a whole lot easier as a breastfeeding Mom.
You need not run out and buy the best of every product available on the market; however, it is wise to see what is available so that when the time comes, you know what you need and you know what you want.
Here is a list of breastfeeding tools that are useful. Some women live by them while others have done perfectly well without them.
In addition to the above tools, you can also think about these actions that you can perform before Baby arrives:
- Buy all the things that a newborn baby will need: diapers, wipes, onesies, clothes, blankets, burp rags, wipe cloths, lap pads, and so forth.
- buy a car seat for the baby. In some hospitals, they will not allow you to leave unless you have a car seat for the baby. Not just a car seat, but one that is properly installed.
- Cook food and freeze ready-to-eat meals. After your baby is born, you will be very busy, so these pre-cooked meals will save you time and effort.
- Stock up on essentials like toilet paper and feminine pads. After the baby is born you will have lochia. This is a vaginal discharge similar to your monthly menstruation except that it goes on for 4 – 6 weeks(!). To avoid infection, do not use tampons. Imagine sending your husband to the store to buy feminine pads – what a disaster that will be!
